Jharna — Dholpur Beige Sandstone

Jharna

The legend

Jharna — “the waterfall”.

The royal engineers carved ramps so water would wrinkle like silk as it fell. Jharna revives the chadar as a wall: a thin film of water sliding down a fluted face of Dholpur sandstone into a quiet trough.

The wet flutes glisten darker than the dry stone above — the wall keeps its own tide-line.

Every Jharna is carved to order in our New Delhi atelier — the block chosen with you, the proportions tuned to your space, the surface finished by hand. Reference size: 180 × 120 cm, in a honed, fluted face finish.

In Mughal gardens water fell over carved chutes called chadars — shawls of stone.
