Kumbha

The legend

Kumbha — “the sacred vessel”.

No vessel in India is older or holier than the kumbh — the pot that holds sacred water at every threshold and every festival. Kumbha turns that ancient silhouette in Indian Statuario marble, its walls a constant four centimetres.

The grey veining crosses the rim and dives into the bowl, so the water seems to rest inside the pattern itself.

Every Kumbha is carved to order in our New Delhi atelier — the block chosen with you, the proportions tuned to your space, the surface finished by hand. Reference size: Ø 42 × 15 cm, in a honed, polished bowl finish.

The kumbh carried holy water; this one holds the morning.
