The legend
Aasan — “the seat”.
Courts measured rank in seats of stone — the gaddi, the chabutra, the royal baithak. Aasan reclaims the dignity of sitting on stone: a long bench of Dholpur sandstone, its seat dished by hand into a shallow saddle.
It rests on two recessed sleepers so the mass appears to float a hand’s width above the floor, the way palace benches once did along garden walks.
Every Aasan is carved to order in our New Delhi atelier — the block chosen with you, the proportions tuned to your space, the surface finished by hand. Reference size: 180 × 45 cm, in a hand-honed finish.
