Anjali

The legend

Anjali — “the cupped palms”.

The oldest vessel is a pair of hands. Anjali — the gesture of two palms held to receive — is stilled in a single block of Indian Statuario: one softly cupped bowl, its interior flowing without a seam, because there is no seam to make.

A fitted basin is three pieces pretending to be one, and the pretence fails at the silicone line. Anjali is not assembled — it is subtracted from solid stone, so the only thing that can ever leak is the tap. Sealed for daily use, its cutout matched to your fittings.

Every Anjali is carved to order in our New Delhi atelier — the block chosen with you, the proportions tuned to your space, the surface finished by hand.

Before there were vessels, there were cupped hands.
